This
is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is
light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have
fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live
by the truth. but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we
have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son,
purifies us from all sin. -- 1 John 1:5-7
A wife of noble character who can
find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full
confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good,
not harm, all the days of her life. -- Proverbs 31:10-12
Brothers, if someone is caught in a
sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch
yourself, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other's burdens,
and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. If someone
thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Each
one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself,
without comparing himself to somebody else, for each one should
carry his own load. -- Galatians 6:1-5
To you, O Lord, I lift up my
soul; in you I trust , O my God. Do not let me be put to shame, nor
let my enemies triumph over me. No one whose hope is in you will
ever be put to shame, but they will be put to shame who are
treacherous without excuse. -- Psalms 25:1-3

everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded
it upon the seas and established it upon the waters. --

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will
say it again: Rejoice. Let your gentleness be evident to all. The
Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to

My dear brothers, take note of
this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to
become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous
life that God desires. -- James 1:19-20
The Lord is my light and my
salvation - whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life

A good
name is better than fine perfume, and the day of death better than
the day of birth. It is better to go to a house of mourning than to
go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of every man;

about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body,

Keep on
loving each other as brothers. Do not forget to entertain strangers,
for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing
it. Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners,

say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?" Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of
God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate
their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and

beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair
and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead , it should
be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet
spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. -- 1 Peter 3:3-4
For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in
God used to make themselves beautiful. They were submissive to their
own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her
master. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give
way to fear. --

Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with you
wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as
heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will

Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be

Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with
blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a

For, whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue
from evil and his lips from deceitful speech. He must turn from evil

For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are
attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those
who do evil. -- 1 Peter 3:12
Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even
if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear
what they fear; do not be frightened. -- 1 Peter 3:13-14
But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared
to give and answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for
the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,
keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously
against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their
slander. -- 1 Peter 3:15-16
It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for
doing evil. For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for

drink?" or "What shall we wear?" -- Matthew 7:31
For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly
Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his
righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.

If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any
comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any
tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being

All a man's ways seem right to him, but the Lord weighs the
heart. To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord
than sacrifice. Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the
wicked, are sin!
Proverbs 21: 2-4
The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to
poverty. A fortune made by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor and a
deadly snare.

The wicked man
craves evil; his neighbor gets no mercy from him. When a mocker is
punished, the simple gain wisdom; when a wise man is instructed, he
gets knowledge. -- Proverbs 21: 10-11
The
Righteous One takes note of the house of the wicked and brings the
wicked to ruin. If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he
too will cry out and not be answered. -- Proverbs 21: 13
A gift
given in secret soothes anger, and a bribe concealed in the cloak
pacifies great wrath. When justice is done, it brings joy to
the righteous but terror to evildoers. A man who strays from the
path of understanding comes to rest in the company of the dead. --
Proverbs 21: 14-16
He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and
honor. He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from
calamity. -- Proverbs 21: 21-23
"Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord
with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not
we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter
into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise:
be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth
endureth to all generations." -- Psalm 100
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in
swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no
room for them in the inn.
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field,
keeping watch over their flock by night.

good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
